TALOE is an organization which orients on promoting arts and culture especially Acehnese Traditional Arts. According to the director of TALOE Jamal Abdullah (35), TALOE main concern is revival of traditional Acehnese Arts, which has been marginalized for several decades. “ We have to maintain the culture of our ancestors that is actually one of the strong mechanisms to avoid moral degradation following the turbulent Acehnese past ” Jamal said.
Although with limited funding TALOE keeps strongly involved in teaching the children and youth which was affected by Tsunami and decades of conflict. Several kinds of Acehnese traditional dance are being taught such as Likok Pulo, Rapa’i Geleng, Seudati, Meuseukat, Laweut, and Ranup Lam Puan dance.
In addition to that, TALOE also wants to bring Acehnese Traditional Arts back to the communities who still have strong belief in tradition and culture based on Islamic teachings and good morals. TALOE promotes this as an interesting instrument for children to learn their culture, traditions and community values in Tsunami and conflict affected villages, schools, and orphanages. |
